Pacific coast, Ecuador
I traveled to the Pacific coast of Ecuador in August, 2008, to help a friend (Paola E.) with her fieldwork. We were there only a few weeks, but we saw three distinct ecosystems and their “bichos”: Chocó rainforest (Esmeraldas Province), tropical dry forest (Manabí Province, close to Machalilla National Park), and river-fed rainforest nestled within the tropical dry forest (Río Ayampe, the border of Manabí and Santa Elena).
