OSU Herpetology field trips
In the fall of 2015 I taught herpetology at OSU. In this class we went on three field trips to see the diversity of Oklahoma’s herps, from the SE coastal plain and Ouachita Mountain taxa in McCurtain County to local critters around Stillwater. Thanks to Andy Mattern (Assistant Professor of Photography and Digital Media at OSU) for the great photos of us during our searches in the southeast!
Southeast Oklahoma (Beaver’s Bend State Park and Little River NWR)
On our last fieldtrip we spent the whole weekend in southeast Oklahoma. Despite the dryness (a fire ban was in place) and cool temperatures, we managed to find a great diversity of critters, especially frogs, who were hunkering down for winter.

Wichita Mountains NWR
On 26 September 2015 we went to the Wichita Mountains National Wildlife Refuge to look primarily for snakes and lizards. We were joined by Rich Glor from the University of Kansas.
Lake Carl Blackwell
On 18 September 2005 we went out to the OSU Integrative Biology land just on the edge of Lake Carl Blackwell. Unfortunately it was hot and dry, and we didn’t find much. But we did find some pretty cool Gastrophryne olivacea!
